Julie and Julia

Okay, I just saw the movie - Julie and Julia.

All I can say is that now it's my favorite.

I went online to reserve Mastering the Art of French Cooking at my library so that I could make Beef Bourguignon, but apparently lots of other people have the same idea. I'm number 16 on the waiting list for the book.

In the meantime I'll have to re-open Julia's other book, which I actually own, The Way to Cook.

I used to like to cook.

  1. Hi Jo!

I can't seem to get into the pages on your site.

I was giving it another try yesterday when I was booted off of my son's computer.

So, yes, I rang. I guess it was a ring and run : )

  2. I want to see this!
So, did it jump start a passion for cooking? Hope you get your hands on that recipe while you're still revved up...

  3. Hi adrienne!

Well, it certainly instilled a passion to make beef bourgingnon!

Hope you get a chance to see the movie, and I hope you enjoy it even a fraction as much as I did!

  4. Love, loved, loved the movie...especially the scene where the sink was piled high with pots and utensils...yes, if you follow Julia's recipes you will use every one you own.
I have been cooking up a storm. Favorites to date: ratatouille, moussaka and roasted cucumbers (who would have ever thought of such a thing...but Julia and friends discussed them in one scene, and with cucumbers inundating us...what choice did I have?)

  5. Hi ricki!

I remember roasted cucumbers from the movie! I'll have to try it - we have a few ourselves : )

I know, I know... the pots and pans! But somehow the cleanup isn't that bad when you've used them to create a masterpiece : )
