The Tudor Rose

In England, one sees depictions of the Tudor Rose in many places. This wild rose, reminiscent of those depictions, grew along a footpath surrounding the ruins of Kenilworth castle:

So near...and yet so far away.
I thought you'd stick to the main drag and not bother with the Hinterland.

Rose canina is my favourite of all the wild roses, and this year it was better than ever. I'm glad you saw it.

You certainly went on a castle tour. Never been to any of those places, apart from taking the Scouts to Windsor in the far distant past.

Nice way of describing your trip. Say it with flowers.

Hi Jo!

The 'Hinterland' as you put it, was one of my favorite parts of the whole trip. I'd love to return someday and take it at an easier pace - we were absolutely at a run the whole time.

And the flowers everywhere we went were absolutely stunning - but I found that almost nothing was as beautiful as an English cottage garden.
