The Reindeer People

This book just came in from my hold list at the library. I've read some excerpts online already - it's a captivating look, via an anthropological study, at the reindeer herders of Siberia.

Can't wait to crack it open today and sink into it. These people are descendents of the peoples who erected the reindeer stones in mongolia thousands of years ago when Mongolia still had the climate to support reindeer. Maybe that's why I like fantasy. I'm an anthropologist by training and sometimes, as evidenced in lore, myth and ancient religion, beliefs can often be quite fantastic - and fascinating. As, of course, can be what has happened to these peoples today.

I read stories of Ayla in the Clan (of the Cave Bears??) series. I can't remember the titles, it had been so long ago.

Please let us know what you think of this book, I may go find it. I need a good book.

Hi Ocean Girl!

I don't know what type of book you're looking for. This one is non-fiction, and so far it is very interesting.

I read several of the Clan of the Cave Bear books way back when too, and enjoyed them.

If you click on 'recommended books' under 'Labels' in the right-hand margin of my blog, you'll get all of the posts I've written about books I've liked and would recommend. Several of them are young adult fiction, but not all. I don't know what kind of tastes you have in books, but you can see some of mine there.
