It's very snowy outside today so I've been huddled indoors looking at knitting patterns available on the Internet. While doing so I came across this interesting video clip of a group of ladies waulking - or "hand finishing hand woven woolen cloth in the traditional way" while singing traditional, rhythmic songs.

Well you learn something new every day and I had never heard of this tradition. I would end up in a fit of giggles if I was sat around the table singing and slapping the wool onto the table....
On the serious side... it obviously works and I enjoyed finding out about this method of hand finishing wool, so thank you very much for this interesting post.
Love Jane xxxx
Hi Jane!
You made me giggle just now to think of a tableful of women 'passing the cloth' in a fit of giggles and trying to sing.
It's true, you never know what new thing you might learn each day. I usually learn lots of stuff, and then promptly forget it again : )
Take care!
